Lovely Mill and meadows. Great dog walking route. It's a bit boggy, and the grass waterlogged in autumn/winter, but as the weather gets warmer, it's much better. There's a lot of space for picnics and dogs to run around and be off lead.

Lovely place to come in (almost) any weather. In the summer you can swim, hire boats, and go on lovely walks either around the very picturesque village, or the surrounding countryside. You can rest in the cafe or the local pub for a drink. In the winter all those lovely walks are still there; just wrap up and check for flooding. Even if you find all your walks blocked by flood, the pub has a lovely warm fire! Don’t trust the NT website for cafe times though, as we’ve planned a nice hot drink a couple of times after walks and found it’s closed earlier than advertised. Overall the Mill and the village are real gems and are worth a visit.

Always interesting to visit. Something new to notice and appreciate every time. The volunteer gentleman was really good and pointed out some fascinating features of the mill.

Such an interesting place! The tour guides are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic to tell you about the place which is brilliant. The millers were there with the water wheel active which made it feel even more authentic to go round too. We spent nearly 3 hours here on a self guided tour and I highly recommend a visit.

What a charming place. One of the most knowledgeable guides ever, explaining fascinating details of the mill and its history. And a splendid cuppa at the cafe. Thank you.

Idyllic location. A great place to watch history in motion, and take some freshly made flour home.

Beautiful. One of the prettiest villages in the UK with a fantastic working water-mill, walks in and around the village and meadows. I have been coming here for 50yrs and I still love it. I went to the junior school back when I was a young'un and have fished and swam in the river. Take a walk down Thicket Path to St Ives or set your tent up in the popular campsite, many do. One of the most peaceful places to be. Visiting is a must, stay for a week and enjoy yourself and with Cambridge just a 30min bus ride away, have a day shopping and then back for some R'n'R at the site. Fancy some lunch? Take a walk through the village to the Three Jolly Butchers, lovely food, plenty of space, large garden and you can even walk down to the river from there or even visit the Three Horseshoes Inn, another great pub for food and a nice cold drink. Just take in the slow pace of village life and enjoy the quietness, no disco's, no loud noises, nothing but you may see some sheep on the meadow as you take a walk across to Hemingford. So what are you waiting for, pack the tent or hitch up the van, all this peacefulness is waiting for you.

As an ex Miller at a smaller water mill, I found it very interesting. I also help out as a volunteer at a working windmill in Margate Kent. Luckily for me, a very helpful and knowledgeable volunteer was able to give me a private tour. Sorry, I've forgotten his name. Many of the methods used are the same. Well done all involved. Thanks.
